We work very hard to bring the best experience to the millions of customers who use our services across 100+ cities everyday, both on their phones, as well as on the road! To clear the air on the news doing the rounds, here is some background.
To be able to deliver a superior product experience to you, we have to put every feature through multiple layers of testing before deployment. Olacabs-dev.in is one of the many such staging environments through which every element we test goes for internal testing. The alleged hack seems to have been performed on a staging environment when exposed for one of our test runs.
Only dummy data is used in such staging environment, since this is exclusively used for internal testing purposes. That means, no real user details, passwords or any such information can be accessed on this platform. The staging environment is on a completely different network as against our production environment, which is completely secure. Also, we’d like you to note that credit card data of users are never stored by Ola in any form on any of our servers (not even in the production environment).
Security and privacy of customer data is paramount to us at Ola. So take a deep breath- all is well and all user data is safe and secure, as always!
Thanks for the clarification. Glad that our data is safe…
