At Ola, we are mindful of contributing to the community in multiple ways and are proud to leverage our technology and vast customer base towards causes that help the society. On World Food Day, celebrated the world over for raising awareness around food security and tackling world hunger, Khichdi Experiment, the flagship brand of Ola’s food business, joined the cause of working towards zero hunger.
As a part of the Daan Utsav week that concluded last week, Ola had launched the ‘Feed the Hungry’ campaign on the app where customers could pledge Rs. 5 per ride towards a meal to the underprivileged. Through Khichdi Experiment, a wholesome meal would be sponsored against every pledge. These meals consist of Khichdi bowls that are nutritious, filling and prepared at our state-of-the-art cloud kitchens under hygienic conditions.
All through the week, a huge number of our customers stepped up and pledged Rs. 5 while booking their rides on the Ola app. The weeklong campaign saw a total of 25,000 Khichdi bowls being pledged towards this cause.
The first round of the meal distribution was executed at Bellandur in Bangalore on Tuesday. A host of Ola employees and volunteers from a zero-funds organization – Robin Hood Army helped manage the ambitious undertaking and mobilise the recipients of the meals. The subsequent rounds of distribution will take place over the next few weeks across 5 cities.
Humbled by the smiles on the faces of the people who received the meals, we want to take this initiative forward in a bigger way in the coming months.
We are grateful for the commitment from our customers and voluntary organizations for helping us in serving the society with kindness, one meal at a time.
